Sheffield firm secures £500,000 funding - 03/09/08

A Sheffield-based digital media production technology firm has secured half a million pounds in funding to boost its capital resources.

Zoo Digital, which is a market leader for creating interactive DVDs, has placed 3.4 million new shares at 15 pence each - a 25 per cent premium increase - to raise the capital, reports the Business Desk.

Chief executive of the firm Stuart Green told the news provider that the past 12 months has been a period of "transition", during which the company had progressed in a pleasing manner.

He added: "We have created a compelling offering for US markets, combining technology with service and increasing our resources and presence close to our core studio customers in Hollywood."

Zoo's turnover for the year ending March 31st included by 28 per cent to £1.9 million, excluding the revenue brought in by its acquisition of US-based firm Scope Seven.

The Yorkshire firm bought the Los Angeles company for £1.56 million in 2007.

In related news, the Business Desk reports that five Yorkshire restaurants were celebrating this week after being added to the prestigious 2009 Good Food Guide.
