Leeds firm posts improved results - 30/04/08

A Leeds-based medical firm has announced improved results and new plans for the year ahead.

Surgical Innovations attributed its five per cent rise in pre-tax profits for 2007 to the firm's move to new premises in Leeds and a £4 million drive to expand in the US, reports the Business Desk.

The firm has also developed and protected a new range of products and is now keen to promote its brand, in order to create more of a name for itself in the industry.

Doug Liversidge, non-executive chairman, told the website: "I am delighted that once again we are able to report improved levels of profit and sales.

"Our confidence in our future is such that we have just completed a relocation of the business to facilities that provide us with triple the area of floor space and the capacity by which we can capitalise on this increasing opportunity."

In related news, Yorkshire Tourist Board and low-cost airline Jet2.com have teamed up to offer a new route between Hamburg, Lübeck and Leeds Bradford International Airport.
