Sheffield firm wins $15m Disney contract - 11/04/08
A Sheffield media technology firm has won a $15 million (£7.5 million) contract with global leader in animation Disney.
Over a period of 15 years, Walt Disney Studio Motion Pictures International will receive "software animation products" from ZOO Digital.
Furthermore, the Sheffield firm has bagged a second deal with Sony Pictures, which will see ZOO's Templated Authoring System being used in the manufacturing of DVDs.
Zoo Digital said in a statement: "With the introduction of new major customers and additional revenue streams based on a proven, market-tested product set, the board looks forward to a year of significant progress both financially and operationally."
The firm added that it foresees "significant opportunities" in the Blu-ray production market and said it is "accelerating" its work on this type of technology.
In related news, another Yorkshire firm was celebrating this week after more than doubling its staff number in the past year.
Castleford-based boiler firm Sime has seen its turnover rise from £1.3 million to £5.8 million over the last 12 months.
