Leeds energy firm announces 15% rise in Russian reserves - 19/03/08

Imperial Energy, which operates out of Leeds, has this week announced a rise in the registered reserves it has in Russia.

The 15 per cent rise is due to the 59 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) of C1 and C2 oil in Siberia's South Maiskoye field in the Tomsk region.

Following the approval from the Russian ministry of natural resources, the registration takes Imperial Energy's oil reserves in the country to 432 mmboe.

On a wider assessment, the energy also announced that over the course of the last two years its levels of mmboe in the Tomsk region has increased by 630 per cent.

The new discoveries in the South Maiskoye field also make a breakthrough as until Imperial's announcement, there were no previous registered fields.

Last month Imperial announced that its tie in with the Snezhnoye-Zavyalovo pipeline had been received.

The company announced that the pipeline will allow it to save on transportation costs.
