Yorkshire Water's IT department wins national award - 06/03/08

Yorkshire Water's IT department has been crowned the 'best of the best' at a nationally-recognised awards ceremony this month.

At the Best Place to Work in IT Awards 2008, which were held at London's Intercontinental Hotel, the firm's IT department beat BT and EON to top the 'utilities and telecommunications' category.

Yorkshire Water's IT manager, Duncan Bennett, said: "This award is recognition for all the hard work which staff across the business put in everyday - and not just within IT.

"The award includes consideration of issues such as work-life balance, the continued development of staff and having a positive working environment and our success in these areas is thanks to the Yorkshire Water way of working."

Computer Weekly's Best Places to Work in IT Awards have been running for five years.

Judges were looking for IT departments with a genuine commitment to innovation and providing a stimulating, enjoyable and productive work environment.
