Barclays to sponsor Yorkshire International Business Convention - 11/02/08
Barclays Commercial Bank has been lined-up to sponsor the Yorkshire International Business Convention (YIBC) 2008.
Lee Collinson, corporate director at Barclays Commercial Bank, told The Business Desk that YIBC is "an important day in the calendar for Yorkshire businesses" and added that the bank is "delighted" to be the event's lead sponsor.
He added: "Our research shows that Yorkshire businesses are confident about managing the challenges that 2008 may bring, with more than half actively planning an acquisition, merger or management buyout over the next twelve months."
The event will take place at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate on June 6th and will be followed by a sister event in Hull.
An announcement is expected in the next few weeks as to who will be this year's keynote speakers.
In the past the event has attracted speakers such as Mikhail Gorbachev, former US President Bill Clinton, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bob Geldof and architect Neil Armstrong.
According to Trade Yorkshire the number of exporters in the Yorkshire and Humber region increased from 3,555 in quarter two of 2007 to 3,613 in quarter three.
