Transatlantic franchise for measurement technology company - 24/08/2008
A laser measurement technology company which has its sales headquarters for the UK, Europe, Africa and Asia in Yorkshire, has established a first transatlantic franchise with a Canadian firm.
Measurement Devices Ltd (MDL) has granted Thomas Engineering Ltd, based in Ontario, exclusive rights to become an authorised MDL service, training, calibration and repair centre for Canada, carrying specialist testing equipment.
MDL has had a steadily growing presence in Canada for 15 years and its products are becoming widely used.
Under the franchise agreement, Thomas Engineering, which has helped to specify MDL equipment for the Canadian market, will operate as MDL Canada. The agreement is part of a wider strategy by MDL, which has bases in York, Aberdeen and Texas, to develop its international presence and provide consistent global after-sales and technical service. MDL has over 60 resellers worldwide, managed from the US and UK offices – including the Yorkshire office.
MDL founder and managing director, Steve Ball, said: “Canada is a very important strategic location and a fast-growing market for our products. The establishment of MDL Canada demonstrates our commitment to existing and new customers and our confidence that Thomas Engineering will do a great job for us.”
