Yorkshire energy firm secures three-year Middle East deal - 07/07/2008

Yorkshire-based group Cape Plc, which provides support services to the energy and natural resources sectors, has been awarded a $20m (£10.2m) maintenance contract in the Middle East.
The three-year-deal is the first fully integrated services contract by public tender awarded by the Bahrain Petroleum Company. Cape, based in Wakefield, will provide access, thermal insulation, asbestos management, refractory and fireproofing services.
The deal helps to demonstrate why Yorkshire and Humber is world-renowned for its strengths in the environmental technologies sector and is continually a leader of innovation in this field. The region’s established energy sector provides unrivalled levels of skill and expertise, largely owed to the extensive network of research and development which helps to ensure that businesses in this sector remain at the forefront of the industry.
Cape’s growth is largely driven by the global demand for energy as the company’s presence in the oil services and petrochemical markets accounts for 50% of its turnover.
