Microsoft partnership for Yorkshire translation firm

A Batley-based translation company has secured an exclusive partnership agreement with global giant Microsoft to deliver a unique live translation service via its Windows Live Translator service.

www.livetranslation.com was launched in 2005 by Dewsbury-born entrepreneur Phillip Perks, and is the world’s first real-time translation service powered by professional translators.  With translators online throughout the day, projects are delivered within minutes of being requested via the website.

Microsoft – the worldwide software leader, founded in 1975 – already offers a free computerized translation service. Following the partnership, users of this service will be able to upgrade from machine translation to professional human translation through Live Translation.

Live Translation Ltd managing director Phillip Perks, who studied at Huddersfield University, said: “It’s wonderful to be recognised by the world’s leading software supplier as a company which can offer a service to its millions of customers.”
