Rockware Glass is the UK's market leader in the design and manufacture of glass containers for the food and beverage industries. To supplement its in-house creative team, Rockware selected the Design Futures CIC exclusively for fresh thinking in spirit packaging. Design Futures CIC developed a range of innovative concepts for the premium spirit sector, focusing on full bottle designs, as well as design features.

The designs had to consider ways of targeting new markets, which were relevant to today's consumers for both standard and bespoke containers. Product innovations being taken forward for the premium vodka and premium whisky markets include an ice cube-base bottle, a glass tetra pack and a hand-grip bottle.

The approach of looking beyond their current products in manufacture, and developing creative concepts in-house, enables Rockware to proactively approach brand owners with innovative solutions. Extensive consumer research ensures that Rockware understands consumer demands and perceptions, enabling them to talk the same language as their clients. The innovation programme ensures that Rockware have a very full pipeline of packaging concepts, which is invaluable in constantly delivering fresh ideas.

This pioneering work in the field of innovation has been recognised within the industry when Rockware scooped the prestigious "Innovative Company of the Year" award at the 2006 UK Packaging Awards.
