Power plant funding 'imminent'

Funding is close to being secured for a £165 million power station in Yorkshire, developers say.
The plant, scheduled to be built near Doncaster, will create thousands of jobs through an innovative carbon capture scheme that will reduce the environmental impact of burning coal.
It was recommended for European funding six weeks ago - a process that is now almost complete.
The 900 megawatt station, which bosses estimate will generate enough power for one million homes, will capture the harmful gas by liquefying and storing it under the North Sea, the aim being to cut CO2 emissions by 60 million tonnes within 15 years.
Energy company Powerfuel beat competition from other schemes at Kingsnorth, Tilbury and Longannet to secure the recommendation.
Any funding secured will come from the European Commission's energy programme recovery fund, which has allocated a total of 1.05 billion euros to the project.
